Diary of a Whistleblower - The Edinburgh Property Conservation Scandal
This book tells the story of the property conservation whistleblower’s life, since the day he started at the Council in 1989 up until the present day. It reflects his battles since 1989 to do something about the misallocation of Council contracts and the bullying he suffered as a result. He is currently awaiting an Employment Tribunal and he believes that when that concludes in June his innocence will be proven and he will be able to start getting his life back on track. He has been told that at present he’ll be lucky if he finds a job anywhere north of Manchester, so great is the stigma on his CV for being dismissed for misconduct. Edinburgh Sucks hopes he will get compensation too, even though that will of course be borne from our pockets.
Edinburgh Sucks will be publishing this book, chapter by chapter, each week over the course of the next 12 weeks which will take you up to the present day. You’ll see how this man has suffered in his 24 years at the Council for reporting mismanagement. Yet over that time, none of his concerns about Council procurement were addressed.
Edinburgh Sucks wants to make clear now, in case there are contractors out there loading up their shotguns with ammo as they read this, that nowhere in the Whistleblower diary is any contractor identified. The diary is about how internal Council processes fail again and again, most spectacularly in this case. Edinburgh Sucks also wants to make clear that the whistleblower himself did not write this. He does keep a diary, but this diary was obtained and written up by a ghost writer, who then offered in it’s original form to Edinburgh Sucks.
